Where I ramble my way through life, hopefully leaving bits of beauty along the way…

So I am just over a week into my January challenge. It’s been interesting, to say the least. πŸ™‚ I’m participating in Marion Smith’s 31 project challenge over at YouTube, and posting video daily has been quite a challenge in itself. I am currently a day behind but plugging along. On Saturday I came down with the flu, which has knocked the wind right out of me. I went to bed on Saturday night and couldn’t get out of bed for anything more than a sip of water or trip to the bathroom for 17 hours. Every muscle and joint in my body just hurt, and even now on Tuesday I still hurt in my neck, shoulders and head. But getting back on my feet, thankfully. On top of all that, my 3 year old daughter got a hold of a pair of scissors and got crafty with her hair. Chopped it off to her earlobes on both sides. So she is now sporting a new little pageboy bob with no hope of being able to pull it back for the ballet class she just started. Ah well, it could be worse…

We have some beautiful snow falling outside, and I’m hearing that we could get up to 6 inches before it’s done. No one has officially spoken about a Snow Day tomorrow, but I know it’s already in the minds of a few people in my house. πŸ™‚

Ok, so on with the projects. Rather than a separate post for each card, I am just going to post them all here. Here we go!

This is myu first Toilet Paper mini album. The structure is surprisingly simple to make…just take a few empty rolls of TP (or a paper towl tube and cut it to size, which gives you two), flatten them with a brayer or under some heavy books and you are ready to go! I covered them with Prima paper and then created tags to slide inside the flattened rolls. I used a Stampin Up tab punch so they call be pulled out easily. Then it was time to decorate! Some borber punches, tiny mats, flowers and bling later, voila! I plan to use this for pictures of my daughter…but one reason why I haven’t jumped fully onto the mini album wagon is that I don’t have a photo printer and need to find a good source to print out my pictures in a small wallet size format. Any suggestions, blogosphere?

Here’s the next:

Isn’t she a cutie??? I love Greeting Farm stamps, and this Flirty Anya is one of my favs. I haven’t used my Copics in a while so thought it was about time. Santa filled my stocking with a few new colors for Christmas (hee hee) and I finally sat down to use them. The weather was pretty gray and dismal this day so some bright blues and yellows were the perfect remedy. I also used a newly purchased Baroque die from the Tim Holtz collection, and I love it! I do need to used some foam in the center next time though – it was a pain to get the die out. The background was also run through the Big Shot using a Polka Dot impressions folder from Stampin Up, which also sat in my stash unused until now. I used some yellow ink rubbed right over the impression to add a bit more color. The sentiment stamp came from the dollar bins at Michaels (love those bins!). All in all, I thought it turned out rather cute.

Next, a little paper piecing:

All of the images are from Lawn Fawn. I have just fallen in love with Kelly Marie’s stamps and if you haven’t tried them out, you should soon! They have a very whimsical style which are great on any number of projects and you can easily pull images from different sets and they all still work together. Here I’m using Critters in the Burbs and Fly Free. I stamped the images onto paper from a retired 6×6 DSP stack from Stampin Up called Welcome Neighbor and then “fussy cut” them out before layering them. A little faux stitching and it’s good to go!

Then we move on to the most recent:

I made this card on Sunday when I finally rolled out of bed. All I can say is thank goodness for Nyquil! πŸ™‚ This is a get well card, probably heading to the next person at work who comes down with this bug. The image is from House Mouse, which I was excited to find out that Hobby Lobby carries (a few anyway). We didn’t have Hobby Lobby in my area until pretty recently so it was nice to see some new items from the usual selection at Michaels and Joanns. There is also a Archivers about 30 minutes away, which I haven’t been to yet, but really need to check out eventually. πŸ™‚

Again I colored with Copics and mounted it on some pale yellow and dark gray cardstock from Stampin Up. The sentiment is from a new stamp set I just received from Scrappy Moms called Sweet Somethings. It has some really cute sayings and I’m looking forward to using it for some future projects.

Ok, that’s it…besides cleaning my craft desk (a never-ending task) and clearing out email and updating here. I have to say, this first week has been pretty intense in terms of time management, but I’m having a lot of fun. Keeping videos short and more of a recap of a project rather than a tutorial seems to be the way to go for now, since it’s easier to upload those videos without major editing. So there may be a regular tutorial here and there, but generally it will be just a recap of the days project for now. I haven’t done any scrapbooking yet, which I am desperately behind on, but hopefully I can order some pictures this weekend and finally get started on a few pages.

Ok, I’m off to finish the next project and then probably do a little shoveling with the family. Good times!
